There are a number of beautiful and exotic locations in the world, but if one location stood out head and shoulders above all others it would be Hawaii. The reasons for this are obvious: Hawaii is comprised of a number of visually striking islands that offer a great place to relax amidst the sun and waves. Are you into surfing? Hawaii has the best surging available in the world. Do you like snorkeling or diving? Hawaii is one of the top destinations for such activity. So what are you waiting for? It is not like someone is going to hand you a free plane ticket. Oh, wait a minute there are a number of airline credit cards that will offer you a free ticket.

Yes, if you are a customer of any one of a number of airline credit cards you can rack up a ton of free miles that can be cashed in for a glorious Hawaiian vacation. Now, while there are quite a few airline credit cards on the market probably the best for such a trip would be a Hawaiian Airlines credit card. The reason for this is obvious: of all the airline credit cards available, the ones offered by Hawaiian Airlines are specifically targeted for Hawaiian vacations. As such, these Hawaiian airline credit cards can cater to your specific destination choice and deliver what is expected. This is a critically important point because “open ended” airline credit cards may have a sliding point scale regarding airline tickets to destinations and a ticket to Hawaii may require excessive purchases in order to reach. With airline credit cards offered by Hawaiian airlines such lofty heights can be avoided and a plane ticket can be acquired in a relatively short period of time. Now, doesn’t that sound like a good deal?

While it is not something that we automatically think of it would not hurt to have a plan for a travel reward credit card. Far too often, we simply acquire the card and make purchases. We then pay the balances as we receive the card and then accrue the valuable miles. When we reach the point where we can cash the cards out for miles we then have the choice of setting up a vacation or simply letting the miles continue to accrue and cash out those miles…eventually. Oh, come on, folks, does that sound like a good idea? It seems more like a passive means of acquiring miles without any plan of action in mind. Needless to say, such a haphazard approach could end up defeating the purpose of acquiring the miles in the first place. After all, you may end up not using them! Now, what purpose would they serve if this was the case?

Rather than approach this in such a haphazard manner would it not be better to plan things out a little clearly and deliberately? Now, this may seem like a somewhat difficult and complicated methodology but it truly isn’t. In fact, all it comes down to is a little simple planning. If you were to set aside a certain number of purchases towards the credit card per month (say $1,000) and then made a comparable number of payments per month (hopefully, you will pay the full $1,000 balance!) you will end up with an accumulation of 12,000 points by the end of the year excluding sign up bonuses and double points plans. Actually, when it comes down to it you can also strategically make ‘double points purchases’ so this could be an option as well. So, if you need a certain number of points for a particular airline ticket you could actually plan out a strategy for acquiring the ticket within a certain specified time frame.

Have you ever looked at a world traveler and said, “Wow. What a loser.” Probably not! There is good reason for this. Bouncing from Lisbon to the Amazon rain forests is hardly something that a down on his luck loser does. Instead, it is usually a sign of success that the individual is enjoying the fruits of his labor or, at least, enjoying all those benefits associated with a free travel miles that a solid travel credit rewards card supplies. Well, those reward miles are also indicative of the fruits of one’s labors. After all, the cardholder has to payback the debt on the credit cards in order to credit the free miles. So, in order to get those miles one needs to amass some money and in order to do that the person must be financially well off.

Look, when it comes to monetary achievement there are a number of benefits. When it comes to maximizing the amount of miles one can receive from using a travel rewards card this is no different than any other benefit one could get from being successful in life. So, in that regard a travel reward card is a symbol of success that one can strive for. Of course, most people will scoff at such a notion because credit cards are usually a symbol of debt as opposed to prosperity and, sadly, in most cases this is true. But to limit cards to such an image would be inaccurate and limiting.

Ultimately, success can come from any source and to limit symbols of success is to limit the potential for success itself. Clearly, this is not the best option one should seek. Instead, it is best to look at all sources of financial well being and use it as a source of inspiration for success. Since inspiration is always the starting point for achievement why would anyone limit the sources of their inspiration?

When it comes to the subject of a travel reward credit card most people have a somewhat limited view. For example, if you were to ask a person how they would travel if they were given travel reward miles they might look at you with a somewhat quizzical look. The reason for this is that they can not conceive of credit card that provides anything other than airline miles. In a way, this is understandable because the vast majority of the travel cards that are available provide airline tickets but there are also other travel cards out there as well. For example, there is a quite excellent travel reward card offered by Amtrak.

Amtrak is, of course, a train service that can covers virtually all the United States and this benefits a great number of people who are not all that interested in flying. Then again, sometimes the distance that a person wishes to travel is only a short distance and such a card becomes an excellent way of saving money on those Amtrak tickets. You can never go wrong traveling with Amtrak because it is an excellent company that is reliable and always provides the best possible service that the company can offer.

Also, the travel rewards card is also provided with a number of additional deals. For example, during the holiday season Amtrak offers a number of double travel deals. That is, if you use your card to purchase tickets during the holiday season you will get double miles. As such, the Amtrak rewards card is definitely a solid one and it is a great alternative to all the airline cards that are out there as well. Of course, this is not to infer that there is anything wrong with airline cards

Certainly, the benefits provided by a travel reward credit card are definitely worthwhile for those who travel a great deal for business or pleasure. That is, after all, the purpose of the cards and those who latch on to a solid card the savings that they can amass are significant. What must be understood in regards to this approach is that the choice of such a credit card should not be one that is haphazard or random. Instead, what is necessary is that the individual selects the right credit card that has terms and conditions that complement the rewards. If not, then all the purported benefits the card is supposed to provide will be clearly undermined.

There are a number of criteria that need to be examined in order to make a comparison. The top two areas of contention will always be interest rates and annual fees. If the rates and fees are ridiculously high on a particular card then it would probably be a smart move to skip the card and go with one that has better and more competitive terms. Of course, there are also other areas that need to be taken into consideration as well.

Now, the sheer volume of different areas of consideration are vast but some of the more common areas of contention would be whether or not there are significant numbers of blackout dates associated with the cards; how many points one receives per dollar amount; how many sign up bonus points are provided; the ease in which one could redeem their miles; etc. So, really one should examine the various other items that are associated with the cards prior to making an outright decision. Ultimately, if there is a moral to this particular story it would be to not rush into the decision of selecting a card and instead it is best to wait for a better deal.
